Frequently asked questions.

What is the philosophy?

We believe in quality. Quality of furnishings, quality of experience and - most importantly - quality time with friends and family. Because of this, we’ve created a curated experience that allows visitors to the cabin to disconnect. Our goal is to enhance our guests’ connectivity with the people they care about, the nature that surrounds Columbine Cabin and their own souls. We supply puzzles, games, books and a location that embraces the outdoors to entertain and inspire while enhancing shared moments with the ones you love. For those who wish to take advantage of our unique location to work remotely, our robust and high-speed internet allows for unfettered Zoom meetings and workflow while you soak up the sounds of Bighorn Creek directly outside the cabin. Come to the cabin, reconnect with nature, reconnect with yourself. Leave the static - and the stress - of your daily grind behind. Return to the urban environment renewed, refreshed and refocused.

What are your COVID protocols?

We keep it CLEAN! This property features new paint, new furniture, new hardwood flooring, new kitchen countertops and new linens. We deep-clean the home after each stay, sterilizing all surfaces with anti-viral and anti-bacterial products. As this is a private home, there are no shared spaces like lobbies or elevators where you and your loved ones will have to interact with strangers.

What amenities does the cabin feature?

The cabin is equipped with an outdoor BBQ, standard cable TV (including major sports channels such as ESPN and news outlets such as CNN and Fox), filter-free coffee maker (you don’t need to bring/purchase coffee filters), full spice rack for cooking, robust wifi, dishwasher (extra dish washing tablets provided), basic cleaning supplies (vacuum, broom, cleaning solutions, multiple trash bags, etc.), and snow shovel.

There are no laundry facilities at the cabin, however The Laundry Room, located between the City Market and Safeway in West Vail (2111 N Frontage Rd W.), provides wash and fold services for personal laundry if needed.

How do I rent the cabin?

Please use the inquiry form HERE to make your inquiry.

Do you offer any discounts?

We offer the lowest prices when you book directly with us through our website. The best nightly rates are available for everyone! Of course, you can use a third-party site (such as VRBO, AirBnB or Expedia) to make your booking, but understand that rates will be higher when booking through them as these platforms act as middlemen and you will pay more to use their services. For the best rates, book directly with us HERE.

How many people can stay in the cabin?

Four is the magic number! The cabin features one private bedroom with two twin beds and another loft bedroom (overlooking the main living area) with a king bed. There is one bathroom with tub and shower on the main level of the home. This layout is intimate, perfect for small families of 4 individuals, a couple or four close friends. Please note that your rate will be quoted for the number of guests you are booking per your contract. Should you make last minute additions, an nominal charge may be due to cover the linen and cleaning services associated with the extra guest(s).

•main level = living space, kitchen, dining area, bathroom and bedroom with two twin beds.

•loft level = “master” sleeping area with king bed reached via stairs and overlooking the common living spaces.

Can I bring my furry partner?

We love pets, but unfortunately we do not allow our clients to host their furry companions while staying at Columbine Cabin Due to our strict cleanliness standards, as well as the fact that some of our guests may have pet or other allergies, Columbine Cabin does not allow pets .

How easy is it to go hiking/skiing/biking?

The cabin sits at the base of the BIghorn Creek trailhead, and it’s possible to start your backcountry hike/snowshoe/ski directly from the front door. If you road bike, you will enjoy fast access to the Vail Pass paved bike route. We suggest that mountain bikers head to Vail Mountain or down valley to access the best singletrack. It is a short walk to access the free Town of Vail bus system that drops alpine skiers or others off directly off in Vail Village for lift-served downhill skiing, shopping, dining and other services.

To prevent damages, no sporting equipment is allowed inside the cabin (skis, snowboards, bikes, etc.).

Can I work remotely?

We offer free and secure high-speed internet via our cable TV provider. Local bandwidth is strong and fast enough for Zoom meetings, sending emails and easily managing all but the most demanding of remote workloads. The wifi is also robust enough for streaming movies on Netflix, gaming or other non-work related activities (note: please use your own device for streaming content as our TV is set up for cable channels only and you won’t be able to binge on your favorite Netflix or Amazon, Hulu, etc., series without your laptop, tablet or other personal device).

Cellular service at the cabin is strong, and it’s easy to make and receive both work and personal calls, send text messages, etc.

How safe is the area?

Vail is an extremely safe community. That being said, the cabin is located across from a trailhead that can become quite busy in the summer. We recommend that vehicles remain locked when parked in the driveway, that skis and snowboards be stored under the deck out of sight in the winter and that bikes be locked when not in use. We do recommend that all doors to the cabin be locked when you are on a hike or out to dinner.

Additionally, our security cameras monitor the parking and all entrances/exits. This extra layer of security isn’t needed, but done for your peace of mind.

How close are you to Vail Village and the ski lifts?

The Cabin is in East Vail (inside the Town of Vail municipal limits). It is a 5-10 minute walk to the closest Town of Vail bus stop. This free bus runs regularly every day year round and it is a 7-10 minute ride to skiing and the shopping and restaurants of Vail. Want to enjoy a glass of wine or two during dinner or some adult aprés ski beverages? Don’t worry! The bus runs until 2am (reduced schedule after 8:30pm) so leave your car at the cabin and enjoy yourself! Check out the East Vail bus schedule HERE.
